2016 PUBLIC HEROES AWARDS NOW ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS
The Public Heroes Awards Hosting and Selection Committee is now accepting nominations for this year’s awards.
Do you know a member of the Toronto Police Service, civilian or sworn, making a difference in the community?
Nominees must display outstanding delivery of policing services and will be judged on the following three criteria: “Altruism”, “Dedication” and “Community Involvement”.
Nominations may be submitted by members of the community, TPS volunteers, friends, family and co-workers. Self-nominations and team nominations will also be accepted.
One member or team from each emergency service in all four regions of the GTA (Toronto, York, Peel and Durham) and members of RCMP, OPP, ORNGE and Correctional Services will be eligible for a Public Heroes Award.
Award recipients will be invited to attend the Public Heroes Awards Dinner on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Mississauga Convention Centre.
Intercultural Dialogue Institute (IDI) GTA has been holding the Public Heroes Awards since 2011 to recognize outstanding service by Police, Fire and Paramedics.
Nomination forms and more details can be found at www.publicheroes.org under “GTA (Toronto)”.
The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, March 01, 2016.
There was an eight per cent increase in people charged with impaired driving-related offences during this year’s RIDE program that started on November 19, 2015 and ended on January 3, 2016.
A total of 211 arrests were made, compared to 195 for the corresponding period a year ago.
Not sure why this is still news, when we go out for drinks lets make the proper arrangemets to get home safe and keep everyone on the roads safe.
